NBA results Thursday 22 October 2026: AI predictions review
NBA results Thursday 22 October 2026: the AI consensus went 5 of 7, with the Lakers and 76ers upsets the only blemishes on a busy seven-game night.
Seven NBA games, ten frontier models, one shared verdict on almost every one of them. The consensus came out of Thursday 22 October with a record of 5 of 7 correct, a solid night built on heavy favourites that held and dented only by two results that almost nobody in the panel saw coming.
The biggest surprise came in Los Angeles, where all ten models expected the Golden State Warriors to win and the Lakers instead ran out 127–105 winners. The Philadelphia 76ers' 114–106 win over Cleveland was the only other miss, and like the Lakers game it was a unanimous call that went the other way.

Seven games, ten models, one shared consensus — and two unanimous misses.
Where the AI got it right
Memphis Grizzlies vs Utah Jazz prediction — the panel was unanimous, with 100% of the ten models backing Memphis at an average confidence of 59% and a most common scoreline of 115–109. The Grizzlies cleared that line comfortably in a 123–103 win, the largest margin among the night's correct calls.
New Orleans Pelicans vs Indiana Pacers prediction — the tightest call of the correct set. Nine of ten models took Indiana at 60% average confidence, with a most common score of 119–120. The Pacers delivered a 123–120 win in a game that lived up to the projected margin.
Houston Rockets vs Dallas Mavericks prediction — a clean unanimous pick at 65% average confidence, the joint-highest of the night, on a most common score of 118–110. Houston's 128–110 win beat the projected margin but not the direction.
Portland Trail Blazers vs Phoenix Suns prediction — all ten models backed Portland at 62% average confidence, projecting 116–108. The Trail Blazers went well beyond that in a 124–83 rout, the widest final margin of the evening.
LA Clippers vs Sacramento Kings prediction — the panel's most confident call of the day, unanimous at 70% average confidence with a most common score of 118–101. The Clippers' 121–96 win was the closest any result came to matching its projected margin.
Where it got it wrong
The Lakers game was the night's clear surprise. All ten models expected Golden State to win, at 60% average confidence, with a most common score of 112–113 — a one-point game on paper. Los Angeles won 127–105 instead, a 22-point swing that no model in the panel had priced in. A unanimous consensus at moderate confidence is exactly the profile this panel had converted in five other games on the night; here it failed outright.
The second miss was quieter but no less complete. Cleveland Cavaliers were the unanimous pick in Philadelphia at 58% average confidence, the lowest average of any unanimous call on the card, with a most common score of 116–117. The 76ers won 114–106, turning a projected one-point Cleveland edge into an eight-point defeat.
Both misses shared the same shape: ten out of ten models on the wrong side. The two games the panel split — Indiana's 90% call and none other — landed correctly.
Models of the day
Nine of the ten models finished with identical tallies of 5 of 7 correct: GPT-5.6 Luna, Claude Sonnet 5, Mistral Medium 3.5, DeepSeek V4 Pro, Qwen 3.8 Max, MiMo V2.6 Pro, Gemini 3.8 Flash, Kimi K3 and GLM 5.3. The shared score reflects a night in which the panel agreed almost everywhere, leaving little room for separation.
Grok 4.6 was the outlier and the worst performer of the day at 4 of 7 correct, one result behind the rest of the field. No model came through the evening unbeaten, and no model beat the consensus record.
