NBA results Wednesday 28 October 2026: AI predictions review
NBA results Wednesday 28 October 2026: the AI consensus went 6 of 8, missing on Detroit at New York and Atlanta's home loss to Miami.
Eight NBA games went through the models on Wednesday 28 October 2026, and the ten-model consensus finished the night 6 of 8. The board was mostly clean: San Antonio, Portland, Cleveland, Detroit, Philadelphia and Toronto all landed on the right side. Two calls did not.
The biggest surprise came at Madison Square Garden, where every one of the ten models picked Detroit to beat New York. The Knicks won 111–97. That was the only unanimous miss of the slate, and it arrived with an average confidence of 64% behind it.

Full-time scenes from a night the consensus went 6 of 8.
Where the AI got it right
San Antonio Spurs vs Sacramento Kings prediction — One of the more comfortable calls of the night. All ten models backed the Spurs at an average confidence of 65%, with 116–107 the most common scoreline. San Antonio ran it out 130–103, a 27-point margin and a correct verdict.
Los Angeles Lakers vs Portland Trail Blazers prediction — Nine of ten models went with Portland at an average confidence of 58%, the most common score being 116–117. The Trail Blazers delivered in a high-scoring 136–129 win. The margin was wider than the models had sketched, but the direction was right.
Cleveland Cavaliers vs Washington Wizards prediction — Nine of ten backed Cleveland at 59% average confidence, with 118–112 the most frequent score. The Cavaliers won 121–111, a ten-point margin that matched the consensus comfortably.
Detroit Pistons vs Charlotte Hornets prediction — The models were unanimous and confident here: all ten picked Detroit at an average confidence of 67%, the highest of the night, with 113–101 the most common score. The Pistons won 97–89, a lower-scoring game than projected but a correct call.
Indiana Pacers vs Philadelphia 76ers prediction — Nine of ten favoured Philadelphia at 59% average confidence, most commonly 110–116. The 76ers won 114–109, close to the projected margin.
Where it got it wrong
Two misses, and both were consensus picks with unanimous or near-unanimous support.
At the Garden, the models were unanimous on the Pistons — ten of ten, average confidence 64%, most common score 116–117. New York won 111–97. Detroit had been backed to win the same night in a different fixture, and it did there; this was the one that got away.
In Atlanta, all ten models picked the Hawks at 65% average confidence, with 122–113 the most common score. Miami won 129–117 instead. The models had the game in the right scoring range but the wrong winner, and the consensus gave no room for doubt.
Both misses share a pattern worth noting: the models were unanimous in each case, and in neither did the pre-match spread hint at the result that followed. The Portland pick, by contrast, was the least confident correct call at 58% — the models were right to hedge on that one.
Models of the day
Seven models finished the night 6 of 8: GPT-5.6 Luna, Mistral Medium 3.5, DeepSeek V4 Pro, MiMo V2.6 Pro, Grok 4.6, Kimi K3 and GLM 5.3. No model went clean, and no model separated itself from that leading pack.
Three finished 5 of 8: Claude Sonnet 5, Qwen 3.8 Max and Gemini 3.8 Flash. Each dropped one additional call beyond the two consensus misses. On a night when the ten models moved as a bloc, the gap between the best and worst tallies was a single result.
