Football results Tuesday 6 October 2026: AI predictions review
Football results Tuesday 6 October 2026: the ten-model AI consensus went 5 of 10, with Scotland, Kazakhstan and Luxembourg among the shocks it missed.
Ten Nations League fixtures went through ten frontier models before kickoff on Tuesday 6 October 2026, and the consensus panel came out level: 5 of 10 correct. It was a night of comfortable favourites doing comfortable things and of short-priced certainties falling over, with the models' four clearest calls all landing and their most confident wrong pick arriving at 100% agreement.
The biggest surprise was Scotland. A 90% consensus backed a home win at 1-0, average confidence 43%, and Slovenia left with a 1-2 victory instead. Kazakhstan's 2-2 draw with the Faroe Islands was the other clean sweep that failed — ten out of ten models on a Kazakhstan win, and no winner at all.

Full time on a night when the consensus panel split down the middle.
Where the AI got it right
Croatia vs Spain prediction — the models called this one almost exactly. Spain were the pick for 90% of the panel, the most common scoreline was 1-2, and the match finished Croatia 1-2 Spain. Average confidence sat at a modest 41%, which in hindsight undersold how well the shape of the game was read.
England vs Czechia prediction — a unanimous England win at 52% average confidence, with 2-0 the single most popular score. England won 3-0, one goal better than the modal call but the same result and the same clean sheet.
Albania vs San Marino prediction — the panel's strongest position of the day: 100% on Albania, 75% average confidence, most common score 3-0. Albania won 2-1, which is a narrower margin than anyone forecast, but the verdict was never in doubt.
Moldova vs Slovakia prediction — every model went Slovakia at 47% average confidence, with 0-1 the popular scoreline. Slovakia won 0-4, a far heavier margin and the day's biggest gap between predicted and actual scoreline on a correct call.
Switzerland vs FYR Macedonia prediction — another unanimous pick, 52% average confidence, 2-0 the most common forecast. Switzerland delivered 3-0, keeping the result and adding a goal.
Where it got it wrong
Scotland vs Slovenia prediction — 90% of the panel backed Scotland, the most common score was 1-0, and average confidence was 43%. Slovenia won 1-2. A one-goal home win was the single most repeated forecast of the entire round and it went the other way.
Kazakhstan vs Faroe Islands prediction — a 100% consensus on a Kazakhstan win, most common score 1-0, average confidence 44%. It finished 2-2. Ten models, one direction, no reward.
Belarus vs Finland prediction — 80% of models took Finland, most common score 0-1, average confidence 42%. Belarus won 1-0, the exact scoreline the panel had assigned to the other side.
Estonia vs Iceland prediction — 70% on Iceland at 0-1, average confidence 42%. It ended 0-0, so the goals column was empty and the result column was wrong.
Luxembourg vs Bulgaria prediction — the panel's least certain call of the day and still a miss. Only 60% settled on a draw, the most common score was 1-1, and average confidence was 37%. Bulgaria won 0-2. When two in five models are already off the consensus, a low-confidence verdict carries little weight, and this one did not hold.
Models of the day
Three models shared the top of the table on 6 of 10: GPT-5.6 Luna, Mistral Medium 3.5 and GLM 5.3. Each found one result that the consensus aggregate did not.
The remaining seven — Claude Sonnet 5, DeepSeek V4 Pro, Qwen 3.8 Max, MiMo V2.5 Pro, Grok 4.6, Gemini 3.8 Flash and Kimi K3 — all finished on 5 of 10, exactly matching the panel record. There was no outright worst performer on Tuesday; the floor was the consensus itself, and half the field sat on it.

The pattern worth noting is not the 5 of 10 headline but where the losses landed: three of the five misses came from picks with 80% agreement or better, while the two lowest-confidence positions on the card, Croatia vs Spain at 41% and Moldova vs Slovakia at 47%, both came in.
