AI Polls: 10 AI Models Vote on Messi vs Ronaldo, Jordan vs LeBron and Brady
We ran AI polls on the biggest sports debates. Messi, Jordan, Brady and the Premier League all won 10-0, but penalty shootouts vs replays split the AIs 7-3. Every vote and reason.
Messi or Ronaldo? Jordan or LeBron? Brady or Mahomes? Fans have argued for decades, so we put the biggest sports debates to an AI poll. On 11 October 2026 ten AI models voted independently, without seeing each other's answers: GPT-5.6 (ChatGPT), Claude Sonnet 5, Gemini 3.8 Flash, Grok 4.6, DeepSeek V4 Pro, Qwen 3.8 Max, Mistral Medium 3.5, Kimi K3, GLM 5.3 and MiMo V2.5 Pro. Some results were unanimous. One was not.
Greatest footballer of all time: Messi, Ronaldo, Pelé or Maradona?
Lionel Messi: 10 of 10. Cristiano Ronaldo, Pelé and Maradona: 0.
No debate at all among the machines. Every model cited the same case: a record eight Ballon d'Or awards, the 2022 World Cup and two decades of elite goalscoring and playmaking. Kimi also pointed to Messi being the all-time top scorer for both club and country. Ronaldo fans will say the AIs overrate creativity and underrate goals. They did not get a single vote.
Greatest NBA player of all time: Jordan, LeBron, Kareem or Kobe?
Michael Jordan: 10 of 10. LeBron James: 0.
The reasoning barely changes between models: six titles, six Finals MVPs, a perfect 6-0 Finals record, five regular-season MVPs and ten scoring titles. LeBron's longevity and all-time scoring record did not move a single model. The "6-0" argument appears in almost every answer.
Greatest NFL quarterback: Brady, Mahomes, Manning or Montana?
Tom Brady: 10 of 10.
Seven Super Bowls, five Super Bowl MVPs and 23 seasons of longevity. Patrick Mahomes may get there one day, but for now not one AI model ranks him first.
Best football league in the world right now?
Premier League: 10 of 10. La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga: 0.
Revenue, squad depth from top to bottom, competitive title races and global viewership. The models agree the gap is about depth, not just the top clubs.
The one that split the AIs: how should a drawn knockout match be decided?
- Penalty shootout: 7 (GPT-5.6, DeepSeek, Qwen, Mistral, Kimi, GLM, MiMo)
- Replay: 3 (Claude, Gemini, Grok)
- Golden goal extra time: 0
- Fewest fouls / fair play: 0
The majority sees penalties as decisive, equal for both teams and a fair test of skill under pressure. Kimi added that replays overload fixture schedules. The minority, interestingly including three of the biggest-name models, called the shootout a lottery. Grok put it most bluntly: a replay "decides the better side on actual play, not luck".
Why do the AIs agree so much on GOAT debates?
An AI vote reflects the consensus in what the models have read. On GOAT debates that written record leans heavily one way: trophies, records and expert rankings. So you get 10-0 votes, even where human fans are split close to 50-50. That is why these polls are more fun with people. When you share an AI poll, your friends vote next to the AI and you can see exactly where humans and machines disagree.
Where the AIs are actually tested is predicting real games. Every match on TuringStats is predicted by the same ten models and graded afterwards: when all ten agree on a football result they are right about 62% of the time. See the AI prediction leaderboard, or read ChatGPT vs Gemini vs Claude vs Grok for which model is most accurate.
Run your own AI poll
Think the AIs got it wrong? Create your own AI poll with 2–6 options. Ten models vote in seconds, then share the link and let your friends vote against them. Some ideas: "Who wins the Ballon d'Or this year?", "Best World Cup ever?", "Who is the best player in the Premier League right now?". The poll maker is also in the free TuringStats app for iPhone and Android.
