Where the AI got it right

Mountfield HK vs Liberec prediction was the models' most comfortable call of the day in the Extraliga: 100% of the ten models picked Mountfield HK, and the home side delivered a 5–2 win. The most common scoreline forecast was 3–2, so the margin came in wider than expected, but the result never wavered.

Nizhny Novgorod vs Sochi prediction carried the day's highest average confidence at 62%, with all ten models on Nizhny Novgorod. They were rewarded with a 3–0 shutout, a cleaner result than the consensus 4–2 scoreline but the right side of the ledger nonetheless.

Spartak Moscow vs Avangard Omsk prediction was unanimous at 63% average confidence, the joint-highest of the slate. Avangard Omsk won 2–1 on the road, matching the models' read that this would be a tight, low-scoring affair.

EHC Kloten vs Biel prediction saw 90% of models back Biel, with the most common score 3–4. Biel instead ran out 6–0 winners — a far more emphatic scoreline than anyone forecast, but a correct pick that underlined the gap the models had identified.

Carolina Hurricanes vs Nashville Predators prediction was unanimous at 63%, the most common score 4–2. Carolina won 6–5 in a wild one, a result that tested the forecast's margin but not its direction.

Where it got it wrong

The SHL was a disaster zone. Luleå vs Frölunda prediction drew 100% support for Luleå at 57% average confidence; Frölunda won 7–3. Orebro vs IF Bjorkloven prediction was likewise unanimous for Orebro, who lost 3–4. HV 71 vs Skellefteå prediction had all ten models on Skellefteå at 61%; HV 71 won 4–3. Farjestad vs Rögle prediction saw 70% back Rögle, yet Farjestad won 2–1. And Djurgarden vs Vaxjo prediction drew 90% for Vaxjo; Djurgarden won 4–3.

In the NHL, Tampa Bay Lightning vs Florida Panthers prediction was unanimous for Tampa Bay at 58%, and the Lightning lost 3–5. Philadelphia Flyers vs Boston Bruins prediction had 80% on Boston at 61% confidence; the Flyers won 2–0. Anaheim Ducks vs Los Angeles Kings prediction was a 60% Ducks lean, and the Kings took it 2–1. Elsewhere, Lukko vs Tappara prediction was unanimous for Tappara at 63% — the joint-highest confidence on the slate — and Lukko won 3–2. The DEL added one more: Iserlohn Roosters vs Augsburger Panther prediction saw 80% on Iserlohn, who lost 2–3.

Models of the day

Claude Sonnet 5 and Gemini 3.8 Flash shared top billing with 14 of 22 correct each, two clear of the consensus. GLM 5.3 finished third on 13 of 22.

At the other end, Mistral Medium 3.5 and DeepSeek V4 Pro both returned 10 of 22 — the weakest tallies of the ten models on the day. MiMo V2.5 Pro, Grok 4.6 and Kimi K3 each managed 11 of 22.
