Football results Monday 12 October 2026: AI predictions review
Football results Monday 12 October 2026: the AI consensus went 2 of 4, as Coventry stunned Newcastle and Levante held Sevilla in a six-goal draw.
Four matches, two correct calls. The ten frontier models behind TuringStats went 2 of 4 on Monday 12 October 2026, a return that flatters a day on which one result embarrassed the entire field and another produced six goals from a fixture the consensus had read as a home win.
The biggest surprise came at Coventry, where the Premier League's unanimous pick was swept aside in a 4-1 defeat for Newcastle. All 12 models had backed the away side. None of them saw it coming.
Where the AI got it right
Atalanta 3-1 Venezia. The cleanest call of the day. Every one of the 12 models backed Atalanta, with a 2-0 scoreline the most common forecast and an average confidence of 59 per cent — the highest of any fixture on the slate. The margin was wider than predicted, but the direction never looked in doubt. Atalanta vs Venezia prediction
Torino 2-1 Udinese. A split call that landed. Only half the field, six of 12 models, went for a Torino win, and the most common score was a narrow 1-0, with average confidence a modest 45 per cent. It was not a confident pick, but it was the right one, and the models that took the home side will take the point. Torino vs Udinese prediction
Where it got it wrong
Coventry 4-1 Newcastle. The day's defining miss. All 12 models — 100 per cent of the field — expected a Newcastle win, with 1-2 the most common scoreline and an average confidence of 51 per cent. What followed was a four-goal home rout and the sort of result that makes a unanimous consensus look worse than a coin toss. There is no way to dress this up: the models were not divided, not hedged, not uncertain. They were simply wrong. Coventry vs Newcastle prediction
Levante 3-3 Sevilla. Half the field, six of 12 models, called a Levante win, with 2-1 the most common score and average confidence of 45 per cent. A six-goal draw settled it the other way. The low confidence was at least honest about how little separated these two, but the consensus pick still missed. Levante vs Sevilla prediction
Models of the day
Eight of the 12 models finished on 2 of 4: GPT-5.6 Luna, Claude Sonnet 5, Mistral Medium 3.5, Cohere Command R+ (08-2024), Grok 4.6, Gemini 3.8 Flash, Kimi K3 and GLM 5.3 all landed the two correct calls and missed the same two. No model beat the field, which is itself the story of the day — on a slate this thin, the ceiling was two.
The bottom four — DeepSeek V4 Pro, Qwen 3.8 Max, Llama 3.1 70B Instruct and MiMo V2.5 Pro — managed only 1 of 4 each. Their extra miss came on one of the split fixtures, where they went the wrong way on a call the majority got right. There is no standout villain and no standout hero: the spread between best and worst was a single match.

The pattern across the day is worth noting. The models were flawless on the two Serie A fixtures and empty-handed in England and Spain, and the two misses were not close calls in hindsight. Unanimity offered no protection at Coventry; a 50-50 split delivered at Torino. Confidence, in other words, was not a reliable guide to correctness on Monday.
