Best AI Football Predictions in 2026: 10 AI Models Graded on 1,190 Real Matches
Which AI gives the best football predictions? We graded 10 AI models on more than 1,100 real matches, misses included. Claude Sonnet 5 picks the most winners, Gemini 3.8 Flash the most correct scores, and a unanimous AI panel is right 62% of the time.
Search for "best AI football predictions" and you will find dozens of sites claiming 80% or 90% accuracy. Almost none of them show you the losing picks. We do. Since 29 April 2026, every football match on TuringStats has been predicted by the same panel of ten AI models before kickoff, then graded against the final score. This article uses that record, more than 1,100 finished matches, to answer a simple question: which AI gives the best football predictions, and how good is "best" really?
The short answer
- Best AI for picking the winner: Claude Sonnet 5, right on 51.1% of matches (608 of 1,190).
- Best AI for the exact score: Gemini 3.8 Flash, which hit the correct score 11.3% of the time.
- Best overall approach: not one model but the whole panel. When all ten AIs agree on the result, they have been right 62% of the time.
Those numbers may look low. They are not, and the next section explains why.
Why 50% is a good hit rate in football
A football match has three possible results: home win, draw or away win. If you picked one at random, you would be right about 33% of the time. If you always backed the home team, you would be right about 45% of the time, because that is how often home teams win in our data. So the real bar for a football prediction is not 50%. It is 45%.
Here is how the options compare on the same matches:
- Random guess: 33%
- Always pick the home team: 45%
- Follow the AI panel's majority: 49%
- Best single model (Claude Sonnet 5): 51%
- Only matches where every AI agrees: 62% (444 matches)
Anyone selling a 90% hit rate on every match is either hiding the losses or counting very few games. You can see our live numbers, updated after every result, on the AI prediction leaderboard.
The full ranking: 10 AI models on real football matches
Hit rate is the share of matches where the model picked the right result. Brier score measures how honest its confidence was; lower is better, and 0.667 is what a coin-flip style guess would score.
- Claude Sonnet 5: 51.1% hit rate, Brier 0.610
- DeepSeek V4 Pro: 49.2%, Brier 0.632
- Gemini 3.8 Flash: 47.9%, Brier 0.610
- Grok 4.6: 47.7%, Brier 0.624
- Mistral Medium 3.5: 47.5%, Brier 0.631
- Qwen 3.8 Max: 47.2%, Brier 0.637
- Kimi K3: 47.0% (fewer matches, joined later), Brier 0.627
- GPT-5.6 Luna: 46.2%, Brier 0.630
- MiMo V2.5 Pro: 46.0%, Brier 0.636
- GLM 5.3: 45.8% (fewer matches), Brier 0.634
The gap between first and last is about five points. That matters over a season, but it also tells you something important: no single AI has found a secret formula. They read the same form, table and head-to-head data, and they mostly reach similar conclusions.
What the AI models get wrong
Grading every pick shows three clear habits.
1. They back the home team too often
The models picked the home side in about 56% of matches. Home teams actually won 45%. Away wins (32% of matches) were picked only about 24% of the time. In October 2026 we started giving every model the real base rates before it predicts, to correct this.
2. Their mid-range confidence is too high
When a model says it is 55% or 60% sure, it has been right only 45% to 51% of the time. Its high-confidence calls are much better: picks made at 70–79% confidence were right 74% of the time, and the rare 80%+ picks were right 88% of the time. The lesson: ignore the average pick and pay attention to the strong ones.
3. They expect too few goals
Matches in our sample averaged 3.0 goals. The models' predicted scores averaged 2.25. They lean on safe lines such as 1-0, 1-1 and 2-1, which together make up almost 60% of their score predictions.
How to use AI football predictions well
- Look for agreement. A 10-0 vote is worth far more than a 6-4 split. The match page shows the full vote for every fixture.
- Look at confidence, but treat 50–65% as a coin toss with a lean.
- Check the record, not the promise. A source that hides its misses cannot be trusted with its hits.
- Use it as a second opinion, not a guarantee. Football is random enough that even the best calls lose a third of the time.
Where to get free AI football predictions
All match predictions on TuringStats are free and need no sign-up. Start with today's AI football predictions or tomorrow's fixtures. Each match shows how many of the ten models back each result, the predicted score and the average confidence. You can also check yesterday's predictions against the final scores, so you can judge the panel yourself.

Frequently asked questions
Which AI is best for football predictions?
On our graded record, Claude Sonnet 5 picks the most winners (51.1%) and Gemini 3.8 Flash hits the most exact scores (11.3%). The strongest signal, though, comes from all ten models agreeing, which has been right 62% of the time.
Are AI football predictions accurate?
They beat simple strategies, but not by magic margins. The best single model is about six points better than always backing the home team. Accuracy rises sharply when the models are confident and unanimous.
Are these predictions free?
Yes. Every match prediction on the site is free. TuringStats is an AI research and entertainment tool, not betting advice.
