Privacy Policy
WeWow (“the app”, “we”) is an iOS app where you chat with a circle of AI companions. This policy explains what data the app handles. The short version: there is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. Your chats are stored on your iPhone. To write a reply, the messages of that chat are sent through our server to the AI provider of the companion you are talking to. We do not keep them.
1. Data that stays on your iPhone
Your conversations, circles, the names, photos and descriptions you give your companions (“who they are”, what they call you), chat photos, backgrounds, polls and settings are stored only in the app's private storage on your device. Photos you pick are copied into the app and are not added to or read from the rest of your photo library. Like other app data, this is included in your device or iCloud backup if you have backups on, which Apple handles under its own privacy policy.
The app asks for photo access only when you choose a photo, and for notification permission only if you agree to companions checking in on you. Check-in notifications are scheduled on your device.
2. Messages sent to AI providers
Before your first message the app asks for your permission to send your messages to AI providers. When you send a message, ask for a vote or a summary, or when a check-in is written:
- The recent messages of that conversation (at most the last 30), the companion's role, the names and descriptions you gave it, and the tone you set for the chat are sent over an encrypted connection to our server.
- Our server forwards them to OpenRouter (OpenRouter, Inc., USA), which routes them to the provider of the model behind that companion: OpenAI (ChatGPT), Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), xAI (Grok), Mistral AI, DeepSeek, Alibaba (Qwen), Moonshot AI (Kimi), Meta (Llama) or Zhipu AI (GLM), or a host running those models. Some of these process data outside your country, including in the USA and China.
- We do not store or log what you write or what the AI answers. For each reply our server keeps only a usage record: a random request id, the time, which companion and model answered, the number of tokens and the cost, and a hashed device key. That is how your allowance and our costs are counted.
- OpenRouter and each provider handle the text under their own privacy policies, see openrouter.ai/privacy. Please don't send passwords, ID numbers, health records or other details you would not want to share.
Daily check-ins: when you leave the app, it may send the latest conversation in the same way so that a companion can write tomorrow's check-in. You can turn check-ins off for any chat.
3. Device key
On first launch the app creates a random key. It is not linked to your name, Apple ID, email or advertising identifier. The app sends it with AI and subscription requests so we can count replies and apply your plan. The server stores only a hash of it.
4. Purchases
Payments are processed by Apple; we never see your payment details. When you start a trial, buy or restore a plan, the app sends the App Store receipt to our server, which checks it with Apple and stores the product, the Apple transaction id, whether it is a trial and the expiry date, so your plan works on your devices.
5. Server logs
Like any web server, ours records technical access logs (such as IP address, time and the endpoint called, never message content) to keep the service secure. They are kept for a limited time and are not used to identify or profile you.
6. What we don't do
We don't sell or share your data for advertising, the app has no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and it does not track you across other apps or websites. We don't use your conversations to train AI models.
7. Children
WeWow is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
8. Your choices and rights
You can delete any chat in the app, turn off check-ins, or withdraw your consent to AI processing in the app's settings (which stops the AI features). Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your iPhone. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA) you may have rights to access or delete data about you. Because we don't hold your conversations, the only records we have are the hashed device key, usage records and subscription records; email us and we will delete them.
9. Changes and contact
If this policy changes we will update this page and the date above. Questions: [email protected].
