Football results Sunday 11 October 2026: AI predictions review
Football results Sunday 11 October 2026: the AI consensus went 10 of 23, with Liverpool 0-3 Manchester City and a five-goal Betis romp among the surprises.
Sunday 11 October 2026 produced a 23-match slate across the Bundesliga, La Liga, Ligue 1, Major League Soccer, the Premier League and Serie A, and the ten-model consensus finished the day with 10 correct calls from 23. That is a sub-50 per cent return on a card that mixed routine favourites with a string of results nobody in the panel saw coming.
The biggest surprise arrived at Anfield, where the consensus had settled on a draw in a Liverpool versus Manchester City fixture and instead got a 0-3 away win. Elsewhere, five MLS matches went against the models, and a five-goal Real Betis performance was the only place where a heavy scoreline still landed on the right side of the verdict.
Where the AI got it right
Freiburg was the panel's most confident correct call of the day: all 12 models backed a home win, most commonly 2-0, with an average confidence of 54 per cent, and SC Freiburg delivered a 2-1 victory over Schalke. It was not the exact scoreline the models favoured, but the verdict held.
In La Liga, Real Betis vs Osasuna prediction was a case of the models reading the direction correctly and underestimating the margin. 92 per cent of the panel backed Betis with a most common score of 2-1; the final was 5-2 to the home side. Real Sociedad likewise justified a unanimous pick, winning 3-2 against Deportivo La Coruna after 100 per cent of models called it and 51 per cent average confidence pointed to a 2-0.
Elche versus Celta Vigo was a rarer thing: a correct draw. Half the panel settled on the stalemate with a most common score of 1-1, and the match finished 0-0, so the verdict was right even if the goals column was empty.
Ligue 1 was the panel's strongest league of the day. Estac Troyes vs Marseille prediction drew a unanimous Marseille call at 52 per cent average confidence, and the visitors won 0-2. Nice and Rennes both justified 100 per cent and 92 per cent backing respectively, with Nice beating Strasbourg 2-1 and Rennes running out 4-1 winners over Auxerre.
Serie A added two more hits. Lazio was a unanimous pick at 52 per cent average confidence and beat Monza 3-1, while Bologna carried only 50 per cent of the panel and still delivered a 2-1 win at Lecce.
Where it got it wrong
The heaviest miss was at Anfield. The consensus pointed to a draw with 42 per cent of models and a most common score of 1-1, at 43 per cent average confidence. Liverpool lost 0-3 to Manchester City, and the panel never seriously entertained an away rout.
Two other Premier League calls fell flat. 83 per cent of models backed Everton at Hull City with a most common score of 1-2; the game ended 2-2. At Crystal Palace, 75 per cent of models expected a draw with a most common score of 1-1, and Palace won 3-1.
Serie A punished the panel twice more on strong numbers. 100 per cent of models backed AC Milan at Sassuolo with a most common score of 1-2, and the match finished 1-1. 75 per cent backed Juventus at Cagliari with a most common score of 0-1, and that too ended 1-1.
The MLS card was the day's weak point. Minnesota United drew 2-2 with Houston Dynamo despite 90 per cent backing at 41 per cent average confidence. Sporting Kansas City and Portland Timbers finished 3-3 after 60 per cent of models picked the home side. Austin lost 1-4 at home to Nashville SC on another 60 per cent call. Colorado Rapids drew 1-1 with San Jose Earthquakes after 90 per cent backing. And Los Angeles FC, unanimously backed by all 10 models at 44 per cent average confidence, drew 1-1 with Vancouver Whitecaps.
Elsewhere, the Bundesliga opener went astray: 83 per cent of models expected a draw between 1. FC Koln and Borussia Monchengladbach, and the home side won 2-1. In La Liga, 67 per cent backed Valencia at Racing Santander, and the match finished 2-2. Como held AS Roma to 0-0 despite 75 per cent of the panel favouring the visitors.
Models of the day
GLM 5.3 was the clear model of the day, topping the table with 13 correct from 23. Claude Sonnet 5, MiMo V2.5 Pro, Grok 4.6 and Kimi K3 all finished level on 11 of 23, with Cohere Command R+ also on 11 but from a shorter 17-match card.
At the other end, DeepSeek V4 Pro was the weakest full-card performer with 8 of 23. Llama 3.1 70B Instruct also recorded 8 correct, though from 17 matches. GPT-5.6 Luna and Mistral Medium 3.5 each managed 9 of 23, while Qwen 3.8 Max and Gemini 3.8 Flash landed on 10 of 23.
